Organizations based in the U.S. could receive up to $100,000
The Facebook Journalism Project (FJP) recently announced a new grant program to help local news organizations who are still operating during the COVID-19 crisis. The FJP COVID-19 Local News Relief Fund Grant Program will offer grant amounts of $25,000 to $100,000 to help essential local news organizations respond to the immediate needs of their communities and offset any financial pitfalls they may be experiencing due to the pandemic.
The grants are eligible for both for-profit and nonprofit news organizations. The publishers must be based in the United States, actively covering the COVID-19 crisis, and serving a specific geographic area. The grant program will give preference to news organizations in rural and disadvantaged communities, areas with acute COVID-19 outbreaks, and publishers with an established digital business model.
Applications for the grants open on April 13, 2020 and end on April 24, 2020. For more information on eligibility requirements and how your organization can apply, click here .
