Craft the Perfect Headline Every Time: How RebelMouse's AI-Generated Headlines Can Transform Your Content Strategy
AI-Generated Lists Bring Smart Headlines to RebelMouse’s Entry Editor
Publishers are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline their workflows and enhance their content. After the explosion of ChatGPT at the end of 2022, AI began rapidly transforming many aspects of the digital publishing world, and its impact is only going to increase in the coming years.
That’s why we’ve been busy at RebelMouse bringing the power of AI into our CMS platform. It’s now serving as an advanced form of tag generation , as well as opening up a whole new world of creativity through AI-generated images .
And now we have another exciting new feature to share. OpenAI Alternative Headlines is here, and it’s a game changer, proposing new headline ideas and other suggested text with just a click.
There are several benefits to having AI-generated headlines, including:
- Improved Efficiency: Writing headlines is a time-consuming task that requires on-the-spot creativity, and all content creators know that the unwelcome appearance of writer’s block can be a frustrating struggle. By using AI-generated headlines, editors and writers can save time and focus on other aspects of content creation.
- Data-Driven Insights: AI algorithms can analyze large volumes of data to identify patterns and trends in user behavior, which can then inform headline creation. This results in headlines that are more likely to resonate with readers and drive engagement.
- Variability: AI can generate multiple headline options based on different variables, such as tone, length, and keywords. This can help publishers test and optimize their headlines for maximum impact.
- Improved SEO: AI-generated headlines can be optimized for search engines, incorporating relevant keywords and phrases that improve the content's visibility and search rankings.
It's important to note that while AI can assist in headline creation, human input and creativity are still essential to ensure the headlines accurately represent the content and capture readers' attention. But overall, AI-generated headlines can help publishers create hooks that are more efficient, data-driven, and effective in driving engagement and traffic to their content.

How to Get Started With RebelMouse’s AI-Generated Headlines
Once enabled, you will see an OpenAI icon appear in Entry Editor where you would typically craft your post headline. Click it to see suggested headlines.
The feature can be further customized when you have a developer working in Layout & Design Tool within our platform. You can customize the name of the tool itself and, most importantly, you can adjust the prompt — such as whether you want three headline suggestions, five, ten, or more. Finally, you can customize whether the headline adds to existing text or replaces it altogether.
The same tool also works for developing subheadlines, and this can also be edited in Layout & Design Tool, including adjusting the prompt.
How to Customize
In Layout & Design Tool, you can customize three elements of OpenAI Alternative Headlines:
- Title: Appears at the top of the list.
-
Prompt:
By default, this is set to be
“suggest me 5 alternative headline of {{headline}},”
but could it be anything like:
- “suggest me 3 headline for this content: {{body}}”
- You can also customize the text associated with the prompt (e.g., headline, subheadline, body, custom field text, etc.).
-
Type:
We support “append” and “replace” functionality. By default, the type is set to
"replace."
- “append ” will add new text to the end of the existing text.
- “replace ” will rewrite all of the text.
Here’s a full example:
1 <ee_headline> 2 <ee_open_ai_button 3 title="Body generated headline" 4 prompt="suggest me 10 alternative headline: {{body}}" 5 type="replace" 6 /> 7 </ee_headline>
How to Add Other Elements
This is the same as described above, but this time the example focuses on your subheadline:
1 <ee_subheadline> 2 <ee_open_ai_button 3 title="Subheadline based on headline" 4 prompt="suggest me 5 subheadline: {{headline}}" 5 /> 6 </ee_subheadline>
OpenAI Alternative Headlines work best for suggesting headlines and subheadlines once content is already written in the body of the post. A subheadline can also be generated based on an existing headline.
You can also use the AI-enabled headlines feature strategically by tweaking the code to write headlines in a specific way. For example, if you want your headlines in a Raw Story -style format, you could change the prompt in Layout & Design Tool to the following:
<ee_open_ai_button prompt="suggest me 5 headline in RawStory style: {{headline}}" />
