New URL flexibility means more control over your search strategy
The early days of the internet were dominated by webpages. They had a finite beginning and end. But social networks like Facebook and Twitter have shifted the way people interact with digital by providing content in a waterfall-style feed where you can easily spend five minutes or five hours consuming content.
This is why our platform utilizes a special pageview methodology that allows for more pageviews with every publish. We do this through our Particle Assembler , which organizes articles into micro pieces of snackable content that can be shared individually across social media. With Assembler, you can designate a unique URL slug for each particle, maximizing your article's ability to get indexed by Google for more than one key search phrase. Here's how it works.
There are two ways you can structure a particle's URL:
Headline: /headline-of-your-particle-here
Rebel Item: ?rebelltitem=X#rebelltitem=X (This is usually the default fallback option.)
We've added a new section into Assembler's settings menu where users can toggle on or off the option to have URL slugs generated from the headline of each respective particle:
Additionally, you can now control the structure of each particle's URL slug:
Here's an example of the workflow and how individual particle URLs can appear once published:
This feature makes tracking particle performance in Google Analytics easy, and gives you more control over how your site is indexed and labeled by Google. It also gives content creators more input into the overall aesthetic of their particles.
Maximize SEO Wins With Individual Particle Slugs
Assigning unique slugs to each one of your particles can maximize your wins on search. Think of each new particle slug as a different opportunity to win a new search phrase.
For example, RebelMouse-powered Motherly created an article about pregnant celebrities in 2020 . By using Particle Assembler, they were able to win big search phrases through the main article and associated particles. The particle URL specifically about Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom received an extra 65K+ views and 833 clicks in direct search:
Drilling down a bit further, when you filter for the search phrase "katy perry" in Motherly 's Google Search Console, you can see direct search wins for that same specific particle — not the main article itself. In this case, 443 people who searched for "katy perry" landed specifically on the particle about her pregnancy with Orlando Bloom.
Increase your chances to win multiple phrases on search every time you click the "Publish" button. If you aren't publishing on RebelMouse yet, request a proposal today and let's start working together.
