"Optimize Slug" button updates article URLs with data-driven keywords
Content creators need to be supported with modern editorial tools so that every article is optimized for maximum reach. This is why our proprietary search technology is one of our favorite pillars of our platform.
We've recently added a new feature to the SEO tab of Entry Editor. ( Click here for a reminder of all of the functions available in this tab.) Now, you'll find an Optimize Slug button next to the Search Phrase (URL Slug ) field.
Currently, a post's URL is either the article headline by default, or it's entered manually in the aforementioned field.
Users will typically want an article's slug to match the key phrase they choose in the Search Phrase You Want to Win field. Now, you can click the Optimize Slug button to automatically match your URL to the search phrase you want to win.
It's best practice to use our data-driven search feature to select a high-performing search phrase. If you select a phrase from the suggested keyword drop-down menu, and then click at least one article in the From Around the Web feature, your slug will automatically update to match your new search phrase. For already-published articles, this process is the same, but you must also manually click the Optimize Slug button after selecting an article in the From Around the World feature — your slug will not update automatically on its own.
